digital dial-up access
 Using

Fewer busy
signals
The Internet access
industry uses a measure called "port ratio" which is merely the number of
subscribers compared to the number of ports (available connections at any given time).
Industry average is reported as 10:1; that is, for every 10 subscribers, only one can
connect at a time. Once all ports are occupied, any additional subscriber gets a busy
signal. ALC maintains a port ratio of 8:1 or less, meaning a busy signal will be a rare
occurrence.
Spam
blockers
ALC has the capability to
block most junk e-mail. Our mail server scans for known "spammers" whenever it
receives an incoming mail message. If the message is from one of them, it is silently
discarded without ever pestering anyone. One or two may get through now and then,
especially from an unreported new spammer, but we’ll be on top of it right away!
